John Dyer’s original acrylic painting ‘The Flower Garden Antony House’ is a beautiful and historically significant garden painting, created live in the flower garden at Antony House in Cornwall for the ITV television series The Painted Garden.

Painted during spring, this 24 x 24 inch original acrylic on canvas captures the flower garden at Antony House in full seasonal splendour. During April and May 2005, John Dyer was joined by an ITV film crew who filmed him painting in the gardens at Antony House and Tresco Abbey Garden. The series was screened in October 2005 and celebrated the work of leading artists inspired by the colours, structures and atmosphere of gardens.

The programme also featured John’s wife, artist Joanne Short, and their daughter Martha-Lilly Dyer painting in Tresco Abbey Garden, making this painting part of a wider family and artistic moment in Cornish art history. Directed and produced by Grace Kitto, The Painted Garden included contributions from garden historian Toby Musgrave, art historian Sam Smiles and garden designer Penelope Hobhouse.
