The John Dyer Gallery Story

The John Dyer Gallery is run by the husband and wife team of artists John Dyer and Joanne Short. Of all the art galleries in Falmouth, we have the widest and very best selection of Cornish art inspired by the landscape and Cornwall's rich coast. The gallery is predominantly rooted in our online gallery with clients encouraged to shop and buy art works online from our many art galleries and collections of prints.

We offer superb value art work, original paintings, ceramics, artist-designed gifts and a wide variety of art prints on museum-quality watercolour paper by John Dyer, Ted Dyer and Joanne Short - three of Cornwall's most established and acclaimed contemporary artists. We also have a wide range of art cards you can shop for that you will find on sale across Cornwall in most major venues and boutique shops.

Clients can also book private appointments with the artists to view original paintings at our spacious Edwardian property in Falmouth, Cornwall, or even request to view an original painting at another location, holiday home or private address local to Falmouth.

The John Dyer Gallery in Falmouth is a natural progression from our previous Falmouth high street gallery that we founded in 1989 and as artists and gallery owners we have over 30 years of exhibition, gallery and artist experience making us the experts in Cornwall art.

The John Dyer Gallery has a leading and unique set of exhibitions and community projects which are run in partnership with some of the UK's most prestigious organisations. 

The gallery was established in 2005 and has formed working relationships with the Eden Project, The National Trust, St Michael's Mount, Falmouth Art Gallery (who have a wonderful collection of art that includes paintings by Ted Dyer, John Dyer, Joanne Short, Henry Scott Tuke and Lee Miller), The National Maritime Museum Cornwall, Kids in Museums, The Arts Council, Born Free Foundation, Earth Day and many environmental organisations around the world.

The gallery offers a special opportunity to shop and spend time with the artists viewing paintings in a friendly & comfortable environment without interruptions. Please note that our prints and art gifts are exclusively available to shop for in our online galleries.

The John Dyer Gallery collaborates and holds exhibition events with many of Cornwall's most famous and popular destinations. We have worked and put on exhibition events with Falmouth Art Gallery, the National Trust, St Michael's Mount, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, Gyllyngdune Gardens, the Tresco Estate and the Eden Project.

Above: We have held many pop-up exhibitions at the Eden Project where John Dyer is the artist in residence. This pop-up exhibition was in 2019 and showcased art from the Amazon and Borneo rainforests and we also welcomed hundreds of families for art workshops. Our exhibition events at the Eden Project draw crowds of hundreds with one exhibition we held of John Dyer's Australian paintings having well over 900 people in attendance.
