Artist John Dyer

John Dyer is one of Cornwall’s most celebrated contemporary artists and is widely regarded as one of Britain’s leading maritime celebration painters. For more than thirty years, his vibrant paintings have captured the energy, colour and spirit of Cornwall’s coastline, harbours, sailing events and community celebrations.

His work has become closely associated with the sea and coastal life, from major Tall Ships residencies and international sailing events to paintings celebrating swimmers, harbours, beaches and the unique culture of Cornwall’s maritime communities. As Artist in Residence for the Eden Project and through his global environmental art projects, John Dyer’s paintings have inspired audiences worldwide with their optimism, movement and joyful use of colour.

‘A Sea of Swimmers, Castle to Castle’ continues this tradition, celebrating the remarkable RNLI charity swim between Pendennis Castle and St Mawes Castle. Filled with swimmers, sailing boats, rescue craft and the beauty of the Carrick Roads, the painting captures both the excitement of the event and the enduring connection between Cornwall, the sea and the RNLI.

John Dyer’s paintings are collected internationally and are held in public and private collections around the world.
