British & Cornish Artist Henry Scott Tuke. 1858 - 1929

Henry Scott Tuke was a renowned English artist in Falmouth, Cornwall, known for his Impressionist-style paintings. He is particularly famous for his depictions of nude boys and young men. Tuke received his training in art from the Slade School of Art under the tutelage of Alphonse Legros and Sir Edward Poynter. He developed a close relationship with the Newlyn School of painters, and his work was exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts, where he eventually became a Full Member. Besides his figurative paintings, Tuke was also an accomplished maritime artist and produced many paintings of sailing ships. He was highly prolific and created over 1,300 works, with more still being discovered today.
