Vintage posters and vintage-style posters are becoming increasingly popular at the moment. A large sized framed poster can make an ideal feature in a home or office and many people are choosing vintage style posters over traditional prints and paintings.
A spectacular new exhibition of work by two top artists has inspired more than 1,000 young people from around the world to create their own rainforest-themed works.
John Dyer, the Eden Project’s painter in residence, and Nixiwaka Yawanawá, an Amazonian Indian artist, created 12 paintings offering a unique insight into the sacred spiritual culture of the Yawanawá tribe of Brazil.
With John Dyer & Amazon Indian Nixiwaka Yawanawá and 1041 children from around the world. More than a thousand young artists have created a beautiful selection of work inspired by the rainforest for the new Eden Project exhibition.
We are absolutely thrilled that 1041 children have sent in their art to be displayed on our Spirit of the Rainforest gallery. Children from the UK, Hong Kong, China, Kenya and Hungary all produced amazing work connected to the rainforest and tribal culture.
“I love the drama of the north coast”, says contemporary landscape painter, John Dyer, “but the colour, sub-tropical plants, boats, wildlife, flowers and people are all amazing subjects on the south. In 1989, I spent some time in the Amazon Rainforest and this expedition
Free children's inspiration day
Tuesday 15 September 2015, 10am-2.30pm at the Eden Project
Teachers were invited to bring up to 10 gifted pupils from their school to meet artist John Dyer, explore the rainforest and develop their creative skills. Particularly relevant for pupils studying for their Arts Award, this event will help to support elements of Discover, Explore and Bronze Arts Award. Participating pupils will be encouraged to share what they've learned with their peers back in school.
Ask John Dyer for a list of his favourite things in life and right up there with dogs with damp noses and stars in the sky you'll find watching his two young daughters finding their feet through art.
It is, after all, a talent that runs in the blood of every member of the family and one that formed an instrinsic part of John's own childhood.
Creative Corner
With the beauty of a subtropical Cornish Coastline driving his creativity, Falmouth-based artist John Dyer has to 'live it to paint it'
By Madeleine Barber
This summer brings a real Cornish treat as three of the county’s leading artists come together to exhibit a
selection of stunning seascapes. Towards the end of July, John Dyer, Joanne Short and Ted Dyer present a vibrant array of their recent creations in Falmouth and online. This exhibition promises to be a special delight for fans of the artists and of the county itself.
Following a collaboration between the Amazon Indian Nixiwaka Yawanawá and British painter John Dyer to create a series of paintings at the U.K.’s Eden Project, the two artists will invite children around the world to submit their artworks inspired by the rainforest.
