Bid for an original John Dyer Painting to support the Children’s Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal

Left: “Precious Moment under the Moon” 12 x 10 inches acrylic on canvas by John Dyer. SOLD

The John Dyer Gallery is pleased to support the Children’s Hospital South West Precious Lives Appeal.

John Dyer has donated an original painting, painted especially for the auction.

RNAS Culdrose 771 squadron are organising an auction with many exciting lots at a special event that will be held on March 8th.

The bid must be your best offer and be submitted by midday on Friday 7th March; the winner will be notified on Monday 10th.

We are here to tell you about 771 Naval Air Squadron’s fund raising event for Children's Hospice South West’s “Precious Lives” Appeal.

771 Squadron has been involved in Search & Rescue for over 30 years, flying out of Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose in West Cornwall. We provide 2 Sea King helicopters for a wide range of SAR missions, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. While we are primarily established for military rescues, 95% of our “trade” is civilian – be it at sea, on the coast or inland; this involves some 250 rescues every year. Naturally, we have established many strong links with Cornwall - and we are keen to put something back into this community, both in our work and our play. So we were looking for a charity project which would not only help Cornwall but would also be something the Squadron members could identify with. Our Squadron Boss, Lt Cdr Chris Godwin and his wife Louise, have recently suffered the tragic loss of their baby son, Colton, to Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Colton’s illness lasted for some time during which he gradually lost neural function – which was clearly very difficult for Chris and Louise to cope with. But they had just the most brilliant support from Children’s Hospice South West during Colton’s last few months and he died peacefully on 7th of August in Little Bridge House hospice, near Barnstaple in North Devon. So when Children’s Hospice South West announced plans to set up a hospice in Cornwall, we realised that here was a really worthwhile project for 771 Squadron to support - not only for Cornwall but also for Colton’s memory.

771 Squadron has organised a Dinner and Auction in aid of Children’s Hospice South West’s “Precious Lives” Appeal, which will be held in the Wardroom of RNAS Culdrose on 8 March 2008; it will be a Royal Naval formal Mess Dinner followed by a charity auction with a wide range of donated prizes and celebrity memorabilia. We are looking to auction some items on local radio and in the Cornish Newspapers, opening up the bidding to a wider audience and hopefully making more money for such a worthwhile cause.  By clicking on the ‘Auction Items’ button at the top of this page you may access and bid on the list of prizes. Alternatively email your final bid.

The bid must be your best offer and be submitted by midday on Friday 7th March; the winner will be notified on Monday 10th.  We hope you will enter into the spirit of goodwill that this appeal is generating as we are sure you will agree, this will be a unique opportunity to fund an extremely worthwhile cause.
There are a limited number of places at the Dinner/Auction still available.  Tickets are priced at £50 each which will include all food, complimentary drinks and an evenings entertainment, with the England cricketer Marcus Trescothick as our guest of honour.
