John Dyer sails along the Thames as the Artist in Residence for the Falmouth to London Greenwich 2014 Tall Ships Regatta

Artist John Dyer has been asked by Cornwall Council's Visit Cornwall to work as artist in residence for this exciting project and has already begun work on his dynamic new series of paintings which will capture the energy and colour of the event in Falmouth and London. Artist Peter Kent, a topographical artist from Greenwich in London, has also been asked to be an artist in residence by the Royal borough of Greenwich.

John Dyer was the British resident artist for the Tall Ships event in 1998 and 2008.

As part of John's work as artist in residence he will be leading a national community arts project with actor and creative practitioner John Frankland. This project will involve children from all over the UK.

On the 30th August 2013 artists John Dyer and Peter Kent were invited by The Royal Borough of Greenwich to sail down the River Thames on the Tall Ship 'Iris'. The sailing was attended by a delegation from Cornwall Council, The Royal Borough of Greenwich and many members of the press. During the sailing John Dyer produced a series of digital postcards using an Apple iPad. These postcards were tweeted live from onboard the Tall Ship and immediately delivered to over 27,000 people to raise awareness of next years Regatta.
