The John Dyer Gallery is proud to be supporting Cornwall Mind with their 'Artists & Celebrities Art Auction' in 2021, so that nobody has to face a mental health problem alone.
Cornwall Mind contacted artist John Dyer to see if he would be able to donate an A4 sized drawing or painting for a potential art auction.
"I jumped at the idea, as there is such a huge need for more mental health support in Cornwall. The pandemic has created not only a physical health emergency but a mental health crisis too. Cornwall Mind is literally a lifeline for people, and I have seen many people I know and love benefit from mental health support."
John Dyer
An array of Britain’s foremost contemporary artists and celebrities have together donated 118 artworks for the auction, with all the profit raised going directly to help fund Cornwall Mind's vital support services to make sure anyone with a mental health problem in Cornwall has somewhere to turn.
'What comes to Mind when you think of Cornwall?' is the inspiration that Cornwall Mind have given to the artists and celebrities taking part, and there are some wonderful interpretations.

With over one in four people experiencing a mental health problem in Cornwall, the need for good quality mental health support, advice and information is vital.
"Cornwall is a very special place that holds my happiest childhood memories, especially in St Ives where I spent all my summers growing up, so art has always been in my life as a result. More than ever with the last year spent in lockdown and life on standstill, I’ve found myself relying on art as a way of releasing stress and staying creative."
Lily Dodsworth-Evans
Cornwall Mind run art, music and creative writing groups which help to connect people in the community. Community involvement provides a sense of belonging and helps tackle social isolation. Cornwall Mind run garden and allotment projects too which research has shown benefits both mental and physical wellbeing.
"The Art Auction for Cornwall Mind is a fantastic opportunity to challenge the stigma of mental illness and raise the profile of Cornwall and Cornwall Mind. We have been very lucky to have the support of some very generous and talented people from the artistic community and from people who have public profile in other areas. Our Community Fundraiser, Lucy and her team have worked incredibly hard to pull this together. So dig deep and make your walls and someone else’s world a brighter place."
