The Conservatoire of Dance and Music in Menton, South of France, asked Galerie Monaco and artist John Dyer if they would allow some of the paintings from the “Singing and Zinging” exhibition to be used for the Ballet Spectacular in the Palais de l’Europe theatre.
The Ballet “Petrouchka” was directed by Jérôme Chrétien, the professor of Ballet at the Conservatoire. The artist worked with the director to select the paintings and set the stage with the lights to create a ‘live’ painting that the dancers appeared to be part of.
“This is a very exciting project which we are planning to develop further during 2009. The audience loved the combination of art and dance and as an artist I can see many possibilities of combining these two great mediums. It really was a very exciting event” John Dyer.
