In 2019 artist John Dyer embarked on an expedition to Borneo as part of his Last Chance to Paint initiative. Travelling first to the north of the island to Mulu he explored the rainforest, the amazing caves, bats and wildlife and to met the Penan tribe. The artist then travelled to the deep south of Borneo and was allowed exclusive access with the Orangutan Foundation into Indonesian government protected rainforest areas at Lamandau to live alongside and paint wild and orphaned orangutans.
