This Cornwall painting is a piece of original art painted with acrylic on board with gold and silver leaf by Cornish artist John Dyer.
This spectacular painting captures the UNESCO world heritage tin mining site of Botallack in West Cornwall. The Crowns engine houses sit proudly on the edge of the cliffs with the powerful lap of the sea below beautifully captured in paint by the artist.
A full moon illuminates the painting, gilded with silver leaf and reflecting into the sea with silver worked into the reflections, so that the painting catches even small amounts of light and literally lights up and sparkles as you view.
A swilling magical sky creates a celestial feel with gold and silver leaf used to great effect and the shooting stars echo the shapes of green stone axes from Cornwall's ancient times.
Cornish choughs explore the foreground and fly across the sea and seals look for fish in the cove. There is so much narrative and storytelling in this remarkable painting which will be engaging viewers for generations to come.
To protect the painting's gilding it has been varnished with a two layer protective gloss UV varnish and is supplied framed and ready to hang.
This is a very beautiful and special contemporary painting of Cornwall that captures the narrative, mystery, and beauty of the landscape at Botallack so well, and is a key painting in the artist's career.
