Painting Description

In this painting, John’s fishermen prepare their colourful hand-painted boats for a trip out to sea from the picturesque harbour at Sennen. The viewer can almost hear their chatter as they congregate around the harbour before their next outing. This is an original acrylic painting on canvas that recreates this Cornish village to perfection.

John Dyer (born 1968)

"There is an innocence and freshness to John Dyer's art that follows a tradition in Cornwall that includes the paintings of Cornwall by Alfred Wallis, Christopher Wood, Fred Yates and Bryan Pearce. Rather than trying to record what he sees, John sets out to capture the 'essence' of his subject. The 'essence' of seagulls, cats, dogs, bobbing boats, or exploding fireworks communicate far more strongly through John's brushstrokes than they would if drawn more traditionally. It is this ability to capture the 'essence' of what is important that seems to appeal to his collectors who have shown great vision and originality in their own careers, such as Tim Smit, Alan Titchmarsh, Toyah Willcox & Kim Wilde."

Thrilled!

I've followed John's work for decades. Have seen his originals in several Cornish galleries, invested books limited edition/ prints, books, calendars etc and finally now am the proud owner of an original painting - couldn't be happier. I love Cornwall too - who wouldn't? So when I'd finally saved up enough money to invest and saw this I couldn't resist. I can't tell you how much the colours just sing out from the canvas. Am sure it'll continue to paste a huge smile on my face everytime I walk past it for decades to come.
Thank you so much John!
