John Dyer takes off in Japan
The John Dyer Gallery in association with Hibell in Japan has just returned from a highly successful tour of four of Japan's major cities, Kyoto, Kobe, Osaka & Tokyo . An exhibition titled "Happy Summer Paradise" has been on tour in nine of Japan's most prestigious gallery spaces across these cities and John Dyer made personal appearances at six of the venues.
On Saturday 28th July artist John Dyer and author Brian Stewart held a book signing at the National Trust Trelissick Property. The event was very busy with many collectors attending and requesting personalized messages in the books.
The National Trust have embarked on an exciting and creative project to promote the work of Cornish artists. This July they will be launching www.trelissickgallery.co.uk and John Dyer has been selected to hold the launch exhibition.
St John’s Primary School in Gosport, Hampshire recently embarked upon an Arts Week on June 25th 2007.
Anna Dawes from the school commented on the exciting week:
“We have decided to use the National Gallery Model of “Take One Picture”, but instead of using their picture, we have chosen to use John Dyer’s ‘Boats and Ropes, St Ives’.
The paintings of John Dyer and Joanne Short almost completely sold out at an exhibition at the Island Cafe at St Michael's Mount on Friday.Thousands of pounds worth of work was sold almost immediately, with some invited guests running to their chosen paintings as they entered the cafe exhibition. John Dyer, resident painter at the Eden project, is preparing for his next painting expedition in Peru when he will paint the potato harvest.
John Dyer, one of Cornwall's best loved artists, who is described as a painter of exuberantly colourful landscapes and figures. A Vision Of Paradise by Brian Stewart (Truran - £9.99) is a very colourful square paperback, almost a catalogue of this man's terrific joie de vivre
To help to celebrate the 2007 Tresco Marathon the Island Hotel on Tresco have acquired the painting "Everyone's a Winner" by artist John Dyer.
The painting features in the new book about John's work 'A Vision of Paradise' by Brian Stewart and is one of John Dyer's key celebration paintings.
Mencap take inspiration from Bulb Mania
A giant painting by residents of homes run by learning disability charity Mencap is on show at the Eden Project. Measuring nearly six feet by eight feet, the colourful work was unveiled last week by Restormel Borough Council Mayor Denise Mutton in the presence of the 32 artists who produced it.
John Dyer was invited by BBC Radio Cornwall to be one of the three judges for their ‘Sea Sense’ poster competition.
John Dyer was invited by the director of Falmouth Art Gallery, Brian Stewart, to give a ‘lunchtime talk’ about his recent visit to Banrock Station in South Australia.
