It is no wonder that the coast and sea are a great source of inspiration for many artists and have been for centuries. Many painters have been drawn to the coast to create seascape paintings, paintings of waves, seaside beach scenes, sailing boats on a calm sea, and yachts on a tumultuous sea.

Including Impressionist painters like Claude Monet.

Joanne Short is a Cornish artist who has found success with her prints, posters and beach scenes of the British coastline. With an eye for detail and a passion for capturing the beauty of nature, Joanne’s work has become popular among art lovers worldwide.

Cornish Artists John Dyer and Joanne Short explore London Art Galleries. This blog talks about the selection of British seascapes and Cornish Art John and Joanne found in Tate Britain to inspire them ready for a new year of painting.

British artist John Dyer found his inspiration for painting whilst in the Amazon rainforest of Brazil in 1989. Tropical plants, with their energetic and dynamic shapes, have informed the artist's paintings ever since. In the early 1990s, the artist returned to his native Cornwall, where he had grown up as Cornwall benefits from the Gulf Stream warm water current that wells up in the Gulf of Mexico and transports the heat to the far-off coast of Cornwall. This heat has allowed many Caribbean and sub-tropical plants to thrive in the region providing John Dyer with endless tropical and Caribbean wall art inspiration.
