This stunning original painting by John Dyer is called 'The Olive Route'. It was painted specifically for the cover of the first edition books of Carol Drinkwater's book by the same name. The Olive Route tells the story of Carol's amazing journey through the olive groves of the Mediterranean and the people she meets along the way. John spoke to Carol at length about her experiences and the story of the olive before creating this beautiful painting. The scene depicts olive trees, chickens, rural buildings, hilltop villages, fishing boats and the sea, all coming together to create a delightful portrayal of life around the olive tree. This original painting is a must-have for anyone who loves art with a story behind it.
The painting is featured in the book 'Painting the Colours of the World' by Kate Dinn.
The Olive Route by Carol Drinkwater published by Orion Books in October 2006 featured an original painting by John Dyer.
The publishers approached John after seeing his series of paintings commissioned by The Eden Project on the subject of Olives.
John and Carol compared notes on the subject and Carol described her amazing journey to John so that he could build the essence of her story into this special painting.
