Wildflowers in Cornwall
In Cornwall, there are fields of wildflowers, clifftop gardens full of colour, and riverside blooms that stretch for miles. No matter where you go in Cornwall, you're sure to find a beautiful display of flowers and there are many examples of stunning Cornish wildflower paintings.
One of the best places to see wildflowers is on Bodmin Moor. This large expanse of moorland is covered in purple heather, pink gorse, and yellow tormentil. If you're lucky, you might also spot some rare orchids growing here.
Coastal Wildflowers
Another great place to see wildflowers is along the Cornish coast. The cliffs are home to an abundance of colourful plants, including thrift, bell Heather, and rock rose. In the spring, these cliffs are covered in a carpet of wildflowers.
Some of the most popular spots for viewing wildflowers are on cliff tops, where you can see an array of brightly-coloured blooms growing among the rocks. Alternatively, why not take a walk through one of Cornwall's many gardens full of echiums and phormiums.
If you're looking for a stunning Cornish landscape full of brightly-coloured wildflowers there are many places you should visit.
West Pentire
The headland of West Pentire, between Crantock beach and Porth Joke (known to locals as Polly Joke), is famously strewn with cowslips in the spring and poppies in the early summer. The display of wildflowers here is amazing.
Watergate Bay
Bordering the coastal footpath above one of the most stunning beaches in Cornwall, many stunning wildflowers, such as sea pinks, cow parsley and campion grow. This is a Cornish wildflower view not to be missed.
Gwithian, Kynance Cove, Trevose Head
These cliffs are home to an abundance of colourful wildflower plants, including thrift, bell Heather, and rock rose. In the spring, these cliffs are covered in a carpet of wildflowers.
Formal Gardens
If you're looking for a more formal garden setting, head to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. This garden is full of winding paths and hidden corners, all bursting with colour. You'll find everything from roses to rhododendrons here. Or try Trebah Gardens and Glendurgan Gardens near Falmouth, both with tree ferns, echiums, palm trees and camellias in abundance. Discover the gardens on St Michaels Mount which are a painting in their own right, full of colour and life and in the spring carpets of Cornish wildflowers and bluebells cover the lower part of the garden.
No matter where you go in Cornwall, you're sure to find something beautiful blooming! Whether it's a field of wildflowers or a carefully tended garden, there's always something worth seeing. So why not come and explore Cornwall's amazing wildflower landscape for yourself? You won't be disappointed!
