John Dyer was invited by Porthleven School to open their new mural based on his work. The children have spent many weeks planning and painting the mural which forms the focal point for their courtyard garden area.
John was presented with wonderful flowers, tea and homemade cakes.
"It is such a privilege to see my work translated in this way - and to be able to come and see the mural is fantastic. The children have obviously had a great time doing this and it must have benefitted them enormously. Porthleven school should feel very proud of their creativity and drive"
The school's creativity can be seen in two colourful murals in the courtyard which will be officially unveiled by John Dyer, artist-in-residence at The Eden Project at 9.30 am on Tuesday, June 29th.
John Dyer visited Porthleven School last September to talk about his work after an invitation by Mrs Trounson's class who had studied his Oranges and Lemons painting in the summer term.
"The whole school has been inspired by his talks and members of the Art Club, run by Louise Jones, decided to paint some of the walls in the courtyard garden in the style of John Dyer " said Jean Webster. "The result is magnificent!"
The young artists have produced two stunning colourful paintings of Cornwall showing seaside scenes, with some especially dynamic seagulls which have really captured the children's imaginations.
