On Monday 24th March 2014 The BIG Art and Storytelling Tall Ships Project was presented to nearly 50 teachers representing 34 schools from all over Cornwall at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall.
Artist John Dyer and creative producer John Frankland hosted the one hour event and presented all aspects of the project.
“The reaction has been overwhelming, it is exactly what we hoped for and it looks like we will have a massive engagement with this project from children right across the county and the UK. We already have several hundred children lined up to attend project workshops. The comments from schools coming into us today are fantastic, they are all really fired up about this and I can see why, as it is a magical, highly creative and unique project. I wish I had been involved in a project like this when I was at school ,as the potential for this is absolutely huge.” John Dyer.
ITV Westcountry covered the event and John Dyer ran an arts workshop for children before the event.
"We wanted to demonstrate the power of imagination and the storytelling qualities of a painting, my official Tall Ships Painting." John Dyer
During the main presentation Wilamena, aged 7, presented her poem and painting that had been inspired from the project.
Comments and emails have been pouring in:
