Cornwall is a county in the United Kingdom that is known for its stunning coastline and beautiful views. One of the most popular spots in Cornwall is St Michael's Mount, which can be seen in many of our prints. Our artists have also captured the beauty of Prussia Cove, which is located just south of St Michael's Mount. If you're looking for a piece of art that captures the essence of Cornwall, you'll find it on our gallery website.
This week our gallery artists John Dyer and Joanne Short were lucky enough to make the most of the weather and get out on another coastal walk. This time they chose to walk from Perranuthnoe to Prussia Cove, taking in the stunning view of St Michael's Mount and Mounts Bay.

"We are so lucky to live near places of such beauty. Getting out and about is a huge inspiration for creating a new collection of paintings, posters and art prints. This week the colour of the sea was stunning and I immediately had ideas for new images going around in my head. It was exciting to feel that we are heading towards spring at last!" Joanne Short.

St Michael's Mount
St Michael's Mount is a small island, once an important monastery, and now a popular tourist attraction.
St Michael's Mount is a tidal island about 0.75 miles from the UK mainland and can be reached by foot at low tide via the causeway or by boat from the village of Marazion. The Mount is now a National Trust property and has been inhabited since the 12th century.
The views from St Michael's Mount are spectacular, looking out over Mount's Bay with its many sailing boats and the Lizard Peninsula in the distance.
The Mount features a castle that was started in the 12th century. Construction began in 1135 on the church and priory buildings at the summit. Today, the mount is open to visitors and features a number of historical attractions, including a 15th century chapel and beautiful subtropical terraced gardens. The planting is spectacular and well worth the visit.
Winter walks
Cornwall is a magical place at any time of year, but especially so during its coldest months when you can explore this rocky coastline with all your senses alert for signs of Spring.
The winter sun glistens off the sea with the backdrop of the long sandy Marazion beach behind; small coloured fishing boats head home to Newlyn harbour in the distance.

The walk from Perranuthnoe (east of St Michael's Mount) to Prussia Cove is a stunning journey that takes in some of the most beautiful views in Cornwall. The sparkling blue sea, craggy cliffs, and seabirds are just some of the sights that you can enjoy on this walk. Clifftop flowers provide a splash of colour against the rocky landscape, while the sound of the waves crashing against the shore provides a soothing backdrop.
Prussia Cove
If you carry on walking around the headland, past Cudden Point, you come to Prussia Cove which was once a smugglers' cove. In fact, it is named after John Carter a famous wrecker who was known locally as 'The King of Prussia' and is made up of a collection of four small coves.

The coast path winds its way along the cliffs, giving stunning views of the small coves - Piskies Cove, Bessy's Cove with its fishermen's cottages nestling, King's Cove and Coule's cove. The sea is a deep blue and the white-capped waves crash onto the rocks below.

It features a fantastic story, and the artist has focused on the joy of low tide at the Mount as families walk across the causeway to reach the other side before the tide returns. The panorama is beautifully framed by the dynamic palm trees on either side of the picture.
