This seascape painting of Cornwall is a piece of original art painted with oil on canvas by Cornish artist Ted Dyer.

Ted Dyer's stunning new coastal art painting 'Sea Pinks and Painters. Falmouth' is a true Cornish classic and a painting that resonates with Cornish art history, the landscape and the artist's own personal connection to the world.

Two artists sit on the cliffside exploring the amazing coastline in paint, these artists are Joanne Short and John Dyer, Ted Dyer's own family, and in many ways, this painting is autobiographical, a celebration of a new generation and a reflection of Ted Dyer's own life and work during his own exploration of Cornwall in paint during the last sixty years.

The painting has a remarkable light to it, sunlight catches the artist's sun hats and illuminates the sea pinks and sails on the classic sailing boats as they sail across the bay in front of Castle Beach.

The painting has a great sense of movement with the grasses and flowers leading our eye to the painters, and it has echoes of the classic Newlyn school paintings which captured not only the light and landscape of Cornwall but people at work in that landscape. Ted Dyer was born in Bristol, but he has called Cornwall his home for most of his life. He spent his younger years in Devon and Somerset before moving to Cornwall with his family back in 1972. Since he was a young boy, Ted Dyer has loved to paint and draw. After moving to Cornwall, he decided to make painting his full-time career and passion. Ted likes to focus on capturing Cornwall's unique quality of light in his paintings, which gives them all a distinct feeling. His paintings are based on locations that he is familiar with and loves. His artwork reflects the tranquillity of the coast, be it boats resting in a harbour or simply people enjoying a day out in the landscape.
