BBC Spotlight & Radio Cornwall Interview John Dyer about the Tall Ships Regatta 2014
March 18, 2014
2 min read
On Tuesday 18th March 2014 Artist John Dyer launched The BG Art & Storytelling Tall Ships Project and revealed the official Tall Ships painting to the press at Falmouth Art Gallery.
Newspapers, Radio and TV all attended the launch as well as a class of year 6 children from Constantine school who took part in a workshop with the artist.
"The Big Art & Storytelling Tall Ships Project has taken many months of planning and hard work, trust and collaboration and a shared vision and today everyone could see clearly why we have all worked so hard to get this project to launch day. It is a stunning and magical way to engage the imaginations and interest of the children in the event and the arts.
Falmouth Art Gallery turned itself into an art studio, media centre and class room today. It was filled with positive energy, highly creative people and wonderful children from Constantine School. The children were 'dazzled' ,to quote one child, at my painting and enchanted by Paul Farmer's story interpreting my painting. Each child wrote their own short story and painted, splattered & splodged with lots of exciting colour to create many new pictures. The work will be added to the special online gallery www.johndyergallery.co.uk/tallships in time for the web site launch on the 24th March at the NMMC which schools are invited to send teachers too.
It's so exciting to know that Falmouth Art Gallery have more free workshops planned on the project already and over 300 children are booked in ! That really is awesome.
It was a brilliant day for all and I feel very proud to be part of the Tall Ships and this special project. Falmouth at its best."
Newquay is a small town in Cornwall popular with art and beach lovers alike. The town is known for its dramatic seascapes, which have been the inspiration for many artists over the years. In addition to the beautiful coastline, Newquay also has some of the best beaches in the region or even the United Kingdom.
Cornish seascape paintings and prints are some of the most beautiful and sought-after art in the world. There is something about the rugged coastline and rolling seas that inspires artists to capture its beauty on canvas. In this blog post, we will take a walk with artist Joanne Short around the stunning South West Cornish Footpath from Gunwalloe to the Lizard. We will explore the different coastal scenes that she encountered on her journey, and learn more about her inspiration for creating these beautiful pieces of art.
In this blog post, we will take a look at the work of three landscape painters, John Dyer, Joanne Short and Ted Dyer, who have all captured the beauty of the landscape in their paintings. Each artist has a unique style, but they all share a love for capturing the essence of Cornwall in their work. We will also discuss the inspiration behind these beautiful works of art.
Both the UK andFrance are a wonder of the natural world and a landscape painter's dream, and both have played a big part in these three artists paintings. With its rugged coastline, sheltered coves and stunning gardens,Cornwall provides plenty of inspiration for artists, as does France, with its changing light and colourful landscape.
