John Dyer book archived for posterity

John Dyer's latest book 'Painting the Colours of the World' has now been archived for posterity by the nation's libraries. The Bodleian Library at Oxford University, The Cambridge University Library, the National Library of Scotland, the National Library of Wales and Trinity College Dublin have all requested copies of the book for their archives. If you are able to visit these libraries you will be able to request to view the book directly from them later in the year.

The book will now be preserved for the benefit of future generations, and become part of the nation's heritage. It will be recorded in the online catalogues, and become an essential research resource for generations to come.

"It's really exciting to know that my book 'Painting The Colours of the World' has now been requested by these libraries, in addition to the usual legal deposit requirements, as my story and all the paintings I have dedicated my life to will be archived for future generations to discover. I wonder what people will make of my work in hundreds of years time and who might stumble across the book and discover all the stories that my paintings capture and explore. Will people still be harvesting by hand? Will some of the places I have painted still exist due to climate change? Will the last chapter 'Last Chance to Paint' resonate with people in the future and is the world at a tipping point in 2018? It's a wonderful but strange feeling to know my life and art, in book form, is being popped into these library time capsules." John Dyer.
