Joanne Short commissioned to paint Trewidden Garden

Joanne Short's new vintage style art posters inspired Trewidden Gardens in Cornwall to commission a Joanne Short original painting for their visitor centre.

Earlier in 2016 the Bolitho estate, that owns Trewidden Garden, contacted the John Dyer Gallery to see if artist Joanne Short would be able to visit the garden wth a view to painting a commission for them. Joanne's new range of vintage style art posters inspired the estate to contact the gallery.

Joanne made several visits to the garden to make a series of drawings to base her painting on.

The key elements of the painting were to capture the magnolia flowers at their best together with camelias. Joanne selected the area around the pond for her painting.

"It's fabulous, thank you! We really like how you’ve got the camellias in and the magnolias looks fantastic against that sky."Trewidden Garden

Trewidden plan to use images of the painting for a wide variety of publishing in the future.

The original is currently on public display at Trewidden Gardens near Penzance and the vintage style art posters of the Trewidden garden painting are available online from the John Dyer Gallery.
